Black Eyed Peas in Sydney
American hip hop outfit Black Eyed Peas have received a traditional Aboriginal Welcome to Country ceremony ahead of their Australian tour.
The four-piece of Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo arrived at Sydney airport from Singapore on Monday night, where they attended a private Welcome to Country ceremony performed by noted indigenous elder Aunty Sylvia Scott.
The ceremony also welcomed the NOMAD Two Worlds collaborative art project - a sweeping multimedia art project conceived by indigenous artist Clifton Bieundurry and fashion photographer Russell James, who is a good friend of the Black Eyed Peas.
The art and music educational symposiums will be previewing in Melbourne in October.
The Black Eyed Peas will play their first Australian show on Thursday October 1 in Brisbane before continuing on to Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland.
